Cash got the idea for the song while serving in Germany in 1953 after seeing the movie Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison. With its freight-train rhythm and Cash’s signature deep voice, this song has been an outlaw country staple since its 1955 debut. Whether "Burn Butcher Burn" becomes as popular as "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" remains to be seen, but now that The Witcher season 2 soundtrack is available, fans can listen to it on repeat if they so choose.Today’s song of the day is the rockabilly classic “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash.

The Witcher season 1's "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" became a viral sensation, perhaps becoming much more popular than anyone involved with the series realized it would, so it's understandable that Jaskier's introduction in season 2 would be accompanied by another major ballad. Hopefully, their time together in season 2 and, potentially, in The Witcher season 3 means that Jaskier will have more ballads to write and more songs to sing. Still, they're friends and, in season 2, he's more than willing to let bygones be bygones when he finds out that Ciri is in trouble. Geralt's always hated that name, mostly because it's undeserved, so Jaskier using it shows just how deeply hurt he was by Geralt's disappearance.

It's telling that Jaskier used "butcher" as a way to describe Geralt, who obtained the title of Butcher of Blaviken early in season 1 when he fought against Renfri and her minions. You can listen to " Burn Butcher Burn" and " Whoreson Prison Blues" on Spotify. Both songs are now available in The Witcher season 2 soundtrack. The second comes in episode 7 and is titled "Whoreson Prison Blues," which itself is a play on Johnny Cash's famous "Folsom Prison Blues." While Jaskier made many changes to Cash's song, it's still quite a fun listen and illustrates his state of mind in that sequence. Jaskier's first song is "Burn Butcher Burn," which plays midway through episode 4 and is about the bard's hatred for Geralt, at least to a certain extent. Related: Does Ciri Become A Witcher? What Happens In The Books & Games But despite Jaskier not being around Geralt long enough to write new ballads in season 2, he still sings two songs that fans may want to listen to after they finish binging the new season. Thankfully, though, the writers and producers of The Witcher season 2 managed to find a way to bring Jaskier back into the fold, and back into Geralt's life, as the two of them have a long road ahead. Sadly, Geralt and Jaskier parted ways unceremoniously in Caingorn when Geralt cast aside their friendship and left the bard on top of the mountain. Without Jaskier, who knows if Geralt would've become the famous White Wolf that even Yennefer had heard about. Jaskier returns in The Witcher season 2 with two more potentially viral songs, "Burn Butcher Burn" and "Whoreson Prison Blues." Easily one of the most popular aspects from The Witcher season 1 was Jaskier, the humble bard who befriends Geralt of Rivia and turns the witcher into a legend across the Continent.
